Friday, Sept. 21, the Greenville Goal Getters went to the YMCA where they had lots of activities to do and loads of fun.
They started out with a warm up which was lead by Mr. Daniel from the YMCA. After that they split into 3 groups and went to 3 different stations (they spent about 5 minutes at each station) which the stations leaders worked on a specific body part with them. Mrs. Tanner and myself were in charge of arms where we had them do pushups, tricep dips and taught them how to stretch out their arms when they were done. Jennifer from the YMCA had them working on legs, and Mr. Daniel, I will have to find out what he worked on and post later that later. There were so many excited kids that it was hard to see what each station was doing.
After that, Christy and Mr. Daniel taught the kids some Raquetball and Tennis skills which later they found out they were going to get to go to the Raquetball courts and try out some of what they had learned. You could just tell that each one, even having to wait for their turn, were excited to get into the court and have fun.
When they got done with their turn, they then went to the gym and shoot some hoop.
After all that fun, Mr. Daniel lead them in a cool down and stretch and then Christy held a discussion with the kids about nutrition. Each one received a food and exercise journal (purchased by Buchy food) and she talked to the kids about writing down what they ate just to see where they might want to add some fruits or vegetables and talked to them about how important it was to make sure they drank plenty of water throughout the day. This can also be a fun activity that the whole family can be involved with.
Next week Sept. 28, we will be going out to Chenoweth Trails. If for some reason it rains or the weather looks bad, we will put a one call out to let you know what the plans are for Friday.

Thank you for letting your child participate in the Greenville Goal Getters and we hope what they learn, they can take back home and maybe around your dinner table, they can share what they learned throughout the week.
Monday: Grades 7-8 @ Jr. High 2:45-4:00
Wednesday: Grades 5-6 @ South 2:45-4:00
Friday: Grades 5-6-7-8 Chenoweth Trails or at the YMCA
If we go out to Chenoweth Trails we will leave South School at 2:10 and leave the Jr. High at 2:20. We will return to the Jr. High around 4:30 where the students will be picked up. We will try out best to be on time.
If we go to the Y we will leave South School at 2:10 and the Jr. High at 2:20. PICK UP WILL BE AT THE Y at 4:30.
