WEEK 6:  Jr. High

I am sad that this session of Goal Getters is going to be ending soon.  I am having so much fun with the kids and just watching them laugh and have fun reminds me my childhood.  We were always outside playing either tag, kickball, basketball, or just plain tag.  Those are things that I am hoping to see more of with the kids here in Greenville.  I am hoping this summer to try and get some of the kids together at the park one day a week just to keep up with what we have been doing.  I haven't made that official yet and when or if I do, I will let you all know.

Well this week at the Jr. High we had some wonderful stations going.  Once again each station was done with 1 minute with a very short break and then moving onto the next station.

Station 1:  Cones and Ladder drills.  There were 4 cones set up and at each cone, there were a set of ladder drills that you had to do.
Station 2:  Bicep curls with palms up and palms down.
Station 3:  Hurdle station- jump over one in front, then 2 to the right side, come back to the middle and then jump 2 to the left, jump back to middle and jump over the one in front.
Station 4:  Wood Chop with medicine ball
Station 5:  Ring bounding- 6 rings, staggered and jump from one to the next.
Station 6:  Lunge with twist with a medicine ball.
Station 7:  Basketball wall shots

South Middle School:
We also had a blast this week.  We did stations that dealt with partners.  Each station was done for 1 minute with a short break to get to the next station.  I also compromised with the kids.  I told them that if they gave me their best workout and I saw some real sweaty kids, we would play dodge ball the last 15 minutes. Let me tell you, I have never seen so many kids sweat in my life :)

Station 1:  Push up clap with your partner
Station 2:  Kneeling twist with a medicine ball
Station 3:  Sit ups with partner high 5
Station 4:  Calf Raises using your partner for a brace
Station 5:  Partner Shuffle while passing a medicine ball
Station 6:  Jump Rope with a partner
Station 7:  Using  your partner, do a wall sit
Station 8:  Fast feet
Station 9:  Star Jumps with high five your partner (thanks Sara for introducing me to the fluffy stars
Station 10:  Your choice with a partner

It was such a great day with them and of course Dodge ball to top it off.

Friday at the Y, was Ultimate Frisbee- this is Nick's game to play with the kids.

Challenge for the week was-Jump Your Way To Better Health-
Perform a variety of jumping activities to help develop muscle and bone strength.  20 jumping jacks, 20 goal post jumps(vertically jump in the air), 20 standing long jumps (jump forward), jump rope 20 times.

Friday May 3, 2013 we will be at the YMCA.  Pick up is 4:30
