WEEK 4---

It is hard to believe that we are 1/2 way over.  I am having such a blast with the kids that I almost don't want it to end  Oh well, like they say, all good things come to and end but in the meantime, we still have 4 weeks!!!!!!!

Monday Oct 21, 2013-NO GOAL GETTERS FOR THE JR. HIGH.
(really missed them)

Wednesday Oct 23, 2013- We talked about nutrition labels as far as how many servings are in a container or box, ex:  can of carrots:  3.5 servings, each serving is 1/2 cup, and 90 calories per serving....
box of Cheese Nips:  16 servings in the box, each serving is 25 crackers, and 150 calories for that serving.  Talked about having fruits and vegetables at all meals and that when you look at your plate, it should be colorful...

We also talked about staying hydrated.

After that thanks to Mrs. Nicholas for bringing in her Xbox 360 and thanks to Mr. Levek for getting it all put together so we could DANCE!!!!!

 It was so much fun!!!!!

Friday at the Y we had snacks: apples, granola bars, and water thanks again to WALMART!!!  Thank you WALMART for donating to our program.

Well Mr. Nick then warmed up the kids, 1/2 stayed with him in the gym and the other 1/2 went up with me to the track.  All I have to say is that these kids were AWESOME!!!  They were all moving and grooving and even when it was time to go down and play dodge ball, they were still wanting to do more exercises.
These kids are awesome and as of today we have 88 Goal Getters signed up.  Thinking back to my first session, I never thought it would be this big.

We also have our own photographer Ryan Howard who is a 6th grader at South Middle School.  He has volunteered his time to take pictures and write articles for us and have them put in the paper.  I am hoping the article he wrote last week will be in this coming Early Bird.  Look for it.  Thanks again parents for all you have been doing as far as getting them picked up on time.  I really appreciate it.  I will also be putting some of the pictures that Ryan has taken of the things we have been doing.

WEEK 3:

Parents......Thank you for the prompt pick up today at the Jr. High.  I think this was the first time that all kids were dropped off and picked up within five minutes.  Thank you very much for that.

Well this week was once again a wonderful week with the Goal Getter kids.  Both groups, Monday and Wednesdays groups did the same workout.

We started with our usual warm up and ran the perimeter of the Jr. High parking lot and at South, the perimeter of the playground.  Then we had eight stations set up.  The kids were at the stations for 30 seconds of work, with a 10 second to get to the next station

Station 1 was the Bear Crawl...

Station 2 was High Knees....

Station 3 was Crab Walk....

Station 4 was Frog Hops with Hoops...

Station 5 was Box Hops using Jump Ropes...

 Station 6 was Jump Rope...

Station 7 was Shuttle Run...

Station 8 was Jumping Jacks..
The kids were awesome and really did a great job.  I don't think anyone complained and at South, they worked so hard there was extra time for tether-ball.  Good job my Goal Getters.

I have started a Greenville Goal Getter facebook page.  I figured that most everyone had facebook and that way the kids could also have access and look to see where we were going and things that might be fun and extra that I will try and post for them.  This is for the whole family.  Well I hope everyone has a fun weekend, enjoy them, winter is just around the corner.  Thanks again parents for letting your child be apart of this program.

Friday Oct. 18, 2013

We will be going out to the trails today.  Please dress warm.  Pick up is at the Jr. High at 4:30 ish.  Remember we are on a bus and we are not allowed to pass.  We might be a few minutes late depending on what is ahead of the bus.

Week 2:

Last Monday at the Jr. High we did our warm ups and then headed outside to play ultimate basketball.  I forgot that the Jr. High has volleyball practice so I had to come up with a different plan so this was it.  It was like ultimate frisbee but only with a basketball, no dribbling, no running, only had to pass.

By now, everyone should have the workbooks that were made and if you don't let me know on Friday so I can get you one.

At South, we did our warm ups and then headed outside for a game of clothes pin tag.  You started out with some clothes pins on the front of your shirt and then when I blew the whistle, you had a minute to get rid of your clothes pins by putting them on the back of someone else.  When time was up, however many clothes pins were on your back, that is how many of whatever you had to do: jumping jacks, sit-ups, pushups.  Well the kids decided it would be funny to gang up on Mrs. B. and attack her with clothes pins so when time was up and 15 clothes pins later, the whole lot of them did 150 mountain climbers with me.  (gotta love those kids :)
