WEEK 5

Monday Oct. 28, 2013...  Since the Jr. High didn't have GG last Monday we caught them up with what we talked about last Wednesday at South GG.  We talked about nutrition labels as far as how many servings are in a container or box, ex:  can of carrots:  3.5 servings, each serving is 1/2 cup, and 90 calories per serving....
box of Cheese Nips:  16 servings in the box, each serving is 25 crackers, and 150 calories for that serving.  Talked about having fruits and vegetables at all meals and that when you look at your plate, it should be colorful...

We also talked about staying hydrated.

After that we went outside to do our stretches, ran 2 times around the library
Memorial Hal

and the Jr. High.
The kids did a wonderful job.  After that we didn't have a lot of time so we all got in a big circle and person 1 threw it to someone in the group, if they missed catching it then they picked out 10 of whatever exercise and the whole group had to do it.  It was so much (especially when one kid picked 50 squats for us to do)  I love working out with these kids.

Wednesday Oct. 30, 2013... THE SHIRTS ARE!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Mr. Koontz did an awesome job with them.  Thank you so much.  The kids just love them.

After the shirts were all passed out, we did our stretches and then the game that I had planned, well do you ever have one of those days when you have it planned in your head how it should go and you roll play it and you think you have it all together....  well in my head I had it all worked out but it was just one of those days where things weren't going to work out as planned.  So my best friend who I admire and adore can into my head and I remember her telling me that "Don't let them see that it's not working out, just go with something else and act like that is what was planned for that workout,",  well that is what happened. We ended up running in school!!!!  I wish you could have seen those kids!! They kept saying, you mean we can run in school?  I said, "Yes, that's what we are doing."  So we ended up running the halls, running up stairs and running down stairs.  They thought that was so cool!!!  We even had time at the end for a nice quiet cool down.  (It was funny the next day when I heard them telling other students that they got to run in school yesterday :)  )  What an awesome bunch of kids I have.  They make this program so much fun.
(Yes, we even ran by the Principal, Mrs. Schaar)

FRIDAY NOV. 1, 2013
Thank you again WalMart for donating snacks to the kids.  They are really loving on Fridays having something to eat especially when some of these kids have a early lunch.  I appreciate it and so do they.

Well we first split into 2 groups again, 1/2 went up to the track so they could walk, run, or workout with the equipment and the other 1/2 stayed in the small gym and worked out with Mr. Nick.
After working out for about 1/2 hour, the kids then went outside to play Ultimate Frisbee.
They all had a good time.

Thanks again parents for picking up the kids on time.

WEEK 4---

It is hard to believe that we are 1/2 way over.  I am having such a blast with the kids that I almost don't want it to end  Oh well, like they say, all good things come to and end but in the meantime, we still have 4 weeks!!!!!!!

Monday Oct 21, 2013-NO GOAL GETTERS FOR THE JR. HIGH.
(really missed them)

Wednesday Oct 23, 2013- We talked about nutrition labels as far as how many servings are in a container or box, ex:  can of carrots:  3.5 servings, each serving is 1/2 cup, and 90 calories per serving....
box of Cheese Nips:  16 servings in the box, each serving is 25 crackers, and 150 calories for that serving.  Talked about having fruits and vegetables at all meals and that when you look at your plate, it should be colorful...

We also talked about staying hydrated.

After that thanks to Mrs. Nicholas for bringing in her Xbox 360 and thanks to Mr. Levek for getting it all put together so we could DANCE!!!!!

 It was so much fun!!!!!

Friday at the Y we had snacks: apples, granola bars, and water thanks again to WALMART!!!  Thank you WALMART for donating to our program.

Well Mr. Nick then warmed up the kids, 1/2 stayed with him in the gym and the other 1/2 went up with me to the track.  All I have to say is that these kids were AWESOME!!!  They were all moving and grooving and even when it was time to go down and play dodge ball, they were still wanting to do more exercises.
These kids are awesome and as of today we have 88 Goal Getters signed up.  Thinking back to my first session, I never thought it would be this big.

We also have our own photographer Ryan Howard who is a 6th grader at South Middle School.  He has volunteered his time to take pictures and write articles for us and have them put in the paper.  I am hoping the article he wrote last week will be in this coming Early Bird.  Look for it.  Thanks again parents for all you have been doing as far as getting them picked up on time.  I really appreciate it.  I will also be putting some of the pictures that Ryan has taken of the things we have been doing.
